On 16th March 1998 in Caniles a village north of Granada the parents of children affected by epilepsy (critical) met and agreed the need to set up an association which met the legal requirements to act. The Association was set up to be a national organization with the defined definitive objectives of meeting the needs of those affected by (severe epilepsy) and their families. From this meeting APEMSI was founded on 30th June 1998.

Inscribed in the Home Office, National Association Register, Group 1, Section 1 and National Number 163932.

At times the statutes have had to be modified to adapt to the real situations of those severely affected by epilepsy.
