Support Services |
|
All of the support that Apemsi has provided has been as a response to the real needs of the user and his/her family. The service asesses the needs and priorities that inform the work with the family. Once the service is being provided we evaluate the satisfaction of the service with the objective of improving should the need arise. |
- Co-existing
-
Apemsi began this activity with the objective of promoting national meetings between people affected by and working with epilepsy, family, volunteers, medical professionals, psychologists and educators.
This space of conviviality can be used to swop experiences, information, etc., and it favours social integration, interpersonal relationships and communication. It provides an incentive for participation and creativity, through recreational activities, sports and leisure.
- Holiday Programmes
-
The aim of the programme is to encourage the meeting and conviviality of those persons affected by epilepsy. The activities provided are games, fiestas and outings to become familiar with the area where people are staying. This programme is only possible because of our volunteers who provide the family with a short break. We aim to provide the maximin personal and social integration of those affected by epilepsy as well as a rest and conviliality for their families and carers.
- Classes
-

In 2005 Apemsi began to provide classes for children with and without epilepsy. The push to provide these classes arose because of a donation of educational material which could be used according to the child´s intellectual capacity and a building which was arquitecturally adapted to provide for need. The professionals who worked in the classrooms were skilled in epilepsy and disability.
These classrooms provide an excellent environment for communication, learning, integration and motivation.

-
In all developing countries there are specialist centres dedicated to the study, treatment and residence of those affected by severe epilepsy. Spain does not have a centre which covers all of the family and the social problems of this pathology.Apemsi has set an objective: build the first residencial centre in Spain.
Please collaborate with us, today it is me but tomorrow it could be you.
- Home Help
-

Apemsi is an accredited body for the delivery of home help. Apemsi undertook the first pilot programme for home help in Andalucia.
Currently, we have two collaborative organisations; the Ministry of Equality and Social Welfare from 2005 and with the Local Government in Caniles from 2010.
There are 32 contracted Home Help Carers who provide the Home Help Service.
Our objective is to provide a quality service which meets the individual needs of our users.
- Respite care in family
-
The respite care in family programme began in 2001, its objective being to improve the quality of life of those with epilepsy and their families, because of the physical and emotional requirements needed for caring for a person with epilepsy. This programme tries to bring together and create new relationships to share experiences, doubts, knowledge and ways in which to educate about values and respect and to share free time and hobbies.
This programme would not be possible without the help of the volunteers.
